Ashfield, part of UDG Healthcare, has announced the appointment of Doug Burcin as President of Ashfield Healthcare Communications.

Burcin brings a wealth of global healthcare communications agency experience to Ashfield, having spent 18 years working with Havas Health and eight years as Global CEO. During this time, he doubled the footprint to 60 offices in 50 countries.

He will take over from Viv Adshead who announced her plans to retire from the role in September 2017 and will have responsibility for the Ashfield Healthcare Communications businesses globally from 26th February 2018.

Most recently, Burcin held the position of Chief Growth Officer at Klick Health, the world’s largest independent digital health agency.

Jez Moulding, COO of UDG Healthcare plc and Executive Vice President of Ashfield, said: “We are delighted to welcome Doug to Ashfield and UDG Healthcare. His phenomenal experience in leading the Havas Health agency network globally is extremely valuable to us as we continue to grow our Healthcare Communications business. Doug brings vast healthcare technology, digital, data and analytics experience to Ashfield, which will help as we continue to grow and differentiate our offering.”

Speaking of Adshead's retirement, Moulding said: “Since joining the Ashfield family, Viv has continued to thrive in leading and growing the agency network. We wish her the best in her retirement and future endeavours."

Burcin commented: “I am thrilled to be joining Ashfield at such an inflection point in its growth story. Ashfield has a wealth of capabilities, talent and breadth of services on a global scale. I’m looking forward to meeting everyone in the agency network and can’t wait to start driving the business forward to a new level of growth.”
