Partnership in Practice - Digital
Partnership in Practice is a new digital publication that explores the crucial development of joint working between the NHS and the UK pharmaceutical industry. What is Partnership in Practice?
Partnership in Practice is a new publication from Health Sector Publishing, publishers of The British Journal of Clinical Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Field.
Editorial combines the analysis and interpretation of thought-leaders from across the NHS, the DH, the ABPI and industry, with real-world practical examples of current joint working projects in action. Case studies are designed to highlight the shared goals of joint working – patient care and health outcomes.
In the spirit of transparency, Partnership in Practice is written for both healthcare professionals and pharmaceutical industry executives. It is the only publication of its kind to reach a joint audience of healthcare professionals and industry executives.
Perspectives on Joint Working
“Times are changing, and the need to find better ways to do things to improve patient care has never been more important. The uncertain economic climate is driving a sea-change in the delivery of health services.
We need to move away from commercial, adversarial relations and develop a B2B relationship. We need to give permission and demonstrate ways in which the NHS and pharma can work together. There is often the perception that you can’t do it, or that it’s against the rules. It isn’t. We should be encouraging collaboration.”
Peter Rowe, Peter Rowe, National QIPP Lead for Medicines Use and Procurement
“The challenge to turn a sub-optimal relationship into something more effective depends on achieving greater transparency and disclosure between the two sectors. Relationship-building is a contact sport.”
Mike Farrar, Chief Executive, NHS North West and Chief Executive, NHS Confederation
“The industry exists to provide better patient healthcare, and the NHS exists for the same reason. But if that is the case, why have we been so poor at working collaboratively? To succeed, both parties need to be open in their dialogue. All over the UK, joint working projects are taking shape and people are beginning to find out that they deliver better results for patients. We can work together, so long as we have a common purpose.”
Chris Brinsmead, Chairman, AstraZeneca and the Government’s Life Sciences Business Advisor
