New role at Meda Pharmaceuticals
Richard Müller has been appointed to the role of Market Access Representative in the Sales Management department of specialty pharmaceutical company Meda.
Mr Müller’s previous pharmaceutical experience includes working on contract for AstraZeneca, Bayer Schering Pharma and Sanofi-Aventis. His medical devices experience includes working as the National Sales Manager for a range of paediatric and phototherapy devices.

Mr Müller will be responsible and accountable for the management of business projects to support the portfolio of brands promoted in the UK. Whilst based at Head Office, the role will require some time in the field with representatives and customers, so a degree of travel is involved.
When asked to comment on his recent appointment, Mr Muller said: “This is a new post within Meda Pharma and I am looking forward to developing and implementing new initiatives to assist the growth of the UK product portfolio. There is a fresh and innovative outlook in Meda UK that differs from traditional big pharma.”
He is an Affiliate Member of the Royal College of Paediatrics & Child Health, Associate Member of the Royal Society of Medicine and the Royal Society for Public Health, Member of the Institute of Health Promotion & Education and Fellow of the Royal Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene.

Editorial appointments at MGP
MGP Ltd has made three new appointments within the Guidelines in Practice editorial team.
Julia Morris has been promoted to Managing Editor of Guidelines in Practice and Connectmedical (the projects division of MGP), and May Lin Ang has been promoted to Sub Editor of Guidelines in Practice.
These promotions reflect both Julia’s and May Lin’s high standard of work and commitment to the journal.
Balraj Juttla joins the team as the Editorial Assistant of Guidelines in Practice. He brings writing and proof-reading experience to this role.

Norgine appoints Business Development Director
Specialty pharmaceutical company Norgine has appointed Dr. Adam Love as Director, Business Development, where he will report to Paul Pay, VP Corporate and Business Development.
Most recently Adam was Director, European Business Development at Cephalon, and prior to that he was UK Medical Advisor at Cephalon.
He is a qualified physician, having graduated from the University of the Witwatersrand Medical School in South Africa and also holds an MBA from Durham University. He has practised medicine in both South Africa and the UK.
Norgine is an independent, European specialty pharmaceutical company that has been established for over 100 years and has a presence in all the major European markets.
In 2007 Norgine’s sales were €220 million, the 21st consecutive year of double-digit growth. The company employs over 1,000 people, around 400 of which work in sales and marketing.

Academy offers support to new and aspiring managers
Performance Coach Allan Mackintosh has launched the newly-created Brand New Manager Academy, which is dedicated to ensuring that new managers get the best possible start in their new management careers.

The resources can also be used to support those aspiring managers on a succession plan, as well as support the development of existing managers who may not have had the requisite training needed for their role.

PanMedica appoints new Recruitment Manager
Long-established industry recruitment agency PanMedica has appointed Helen Weller to the position of Recruitment Manager.
Helen has more than five years’ experience working within the pharmaceutical and healthcare recruitment sector. Prior to joining the recruitment industry, Helen spent three years working in the pharmaceutical industry in medical sales.

Training consultancy launched
Dr Ravi K Powar has launched R11OSY Consultants Ltd, a new consultancy company specialising in training and coaching.

Ravi has a varied working history, holding management roles in various business domains alongside experience in the public and voluntary sector. Also an experienced lecturer, Ravi’s experience in coaching extends over twenty years.
During a recent ten-year period Ravi has worked with various reputable companies in the pharmaceutical industry, having started her career with Innovex in 1997.

Strategic appointment for Penn Pharma
Bioscience company Penn Pharma has appointed Darren Hassey as Operations Director at the company’s Welsh headquarters.
Darren joins Penn with a wealth of experience within operations roles across the pharmaceutical industry spanning development, quality, in-licensing, manufacturing and operational excellence.
Former Pharmaceutical Services Director Paul Thomas has taken on a new role as Chief Scientific Officer and former Commercial and Manufacturing Director John Roberts can now focus on the role of Commercial Director for Europe and the rest of the world.
Speaking on his appointment Darren said: “I represent Penn at both executive and board level and am pleased to be able to bring with me more than 15 years experience in the industry. Although I am responsible for all operational areas including analytics, formulation, clinical trial supplies, logistics and manufacturing I will also maintain customer focus through leadership of the senior account managers.”
