German pharma giant Merck KGaA has appointed Joachim Christ as Head of Corporate Controlling.
An experienced corporate controller in the pharma industry, Christ will report to Merck’s Chief Financial Officer, Matthias Zachert.
Joachim Christ (46) has almost 25 years’ experience of pharma management. At Hoechst AG and its successor, Aventis, he has been controller for a strategic business unit, for the EMEA region and for global production.
Since the end of 2004, Christ has led Corporate Controlling at the new German company Lanxess AG.
“Because of his past positions at Hoechst, Aventis and Lanxess, Joachim Christ has extensive experience in both the pharmaceutical and chemical industries as well as in the Controlling function,” said Matthias Zachert.
“He is ideally qualified to develop the Controlling function at Merck into a true partner to our businesses. One of our overriding aims is to further develop and substantially modernise our Finance organisation.”
